In the 19th Century, Bonin, Marret and Figueroa supplied raw materials required by craftsmen for their works -gold and silver- which they obtained from mining companies and from their own waste. In 1920 they created the company Sociedad Española de Metales Preciosos, S.A. which during the 20th Century was the most significant supplier in Spain for jewelers, silversmiths and other trades using precious metals and one of the world leaders.
In the year 2000 the Cookson Group acquired the activity from Sociedad Española de Metales Preciosos, S.A., with respect to jewellery, silversmiths and dental trade, within a plan of growth that places it in the leading group, serving the jewellery and silver industry around the world. The Group comprises three divisions - Electronics, Ceramics and Precious Metals. SEMPSA Joyería Platería, S.A. mainly supplies the Spanish and European market of raw materials in the form of fine metal or alloys in several formats;-wire, sheets, foil, strip, rings, tubes, semis, rods, bars, etc,, -and refines waste and brushings produced when in the industrial manufacturing of jewels, silver goods and dental prostheses.
